The recording of this song was derailed and almost abandoned after the
classically trained female singer we had lined up to play the voice of
Satan turned out to be a Christian fundamentalist and refused to sing
the part. Luckily, it was around that time that we had discovered how
to make our voices really high and annoying by recording them with the
tape in slow motion, and then playing the voices back at normal or even
higher speed. This technique was used extensively in later recordings
and has helped us maintain a reasonable level of vocal anonymity.
Amazingly, the lady singer whom we'd offended so terribly agreed to
record on a later album for the recording of 'foodballs'.
